Engaging students in authentic cellular and genetic research projects

The lab is interested in the cellular and genetic mechanisms of neuronal function. In particular, research investigations focus on understanding how specific signaling molecules called neuromodulators fine-tune behavioral output. Click here for specific projects and additional information.

Undergraduate students are invited to join the lab for a single experiment, an entire semester, or a multi-year research project. Click here to see information about current and former lab members, as well as a link to submit an application to join the lab. 

The lab primarily uses the model organism C. elegans, a nematode worm, to answer specific research questions by implementing genetic analysis, behavioral assays, in vivo cellular imaging, and molecular tools in our experiments. Click here for basic protocols and other resources.
